A Gift From God

Parody of "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins

Parody Lyrics by Jeff James (the Paro-dud)
Now, have I just thanked You every day?
I'd not believe without Your grace.
When I glance at all the mess I've done to You, ooh, ooh.
You knew all I'd done, You really forgive it all.

How can you just blot away bad deeds?
Did all You can do on Calvary.
Yes, You bear the torture and the shame
(For heathens in our fears)/(And healing dared appear)
You knew all I'd done, You really forgive it all.

CHORUS:
Oh, in Your book I see now
'Cause there is not any trace.
There's no sins left here to remind me
Of the debt Your love replaced.
In Your book I see now
'Cause there is not any trace
And Your act on Calvary was a gift from God.
Undeserved, from God of grace.

All I have got to do is twirl around,
Look around and see then why.
There's so much I need to praise, I do,
And many reasons why.
You knew all I'd done, You really forgive it all.

Chorus

Take Your good book, I see now.
Can I understand Your care?
And Your act on Calvary was a gift from God,
Second chance I'll not forsake.

I take Your book and see now.

Note: Jeff James has written several Parodeities over the years. He has been gracious enough to rewrite many of the parodies appearing in the Parodeity section on Webster. He's done a great job improving some of these tunes in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. I'm absolutely thrilled that he has taken it upon himself to make these improvements; I had hoped when I put all my work in the public domain that it would encourage some people to make these types of modifications to the Parodeities to improve them. It is exciting to see someone doing this kind of work; I hope that Jeff's excellent work will encourage others to write new parodies or "ReVerse" existing parodeities. -- Randy Hyde

BTW, if you don't understand the "Paro-Dud" moniker, visit ApologetiX' site and check out the name of Karl Messner's production company; then you'll probably get the play on words.
