Parody of "Hollywood Nights" by Bob Seger
Parody Lyrics by Jeff James (the Paro-dud)
| Bethlehem Nights ReVersed by Jeff James (Paro-dud) She was with child, was the Son, and she had to ponder most. He was a Nazareth boy, was his home. She looked at him. Was she bothered? No inn was then in view. He knew the census was ordered by Rome. It was ordered by Rome. They crossed the land, but their bed was a barn on old, back street. They watched the hay, wasn't so like they planned. They'd rode for miles and miles for this (hist'ry's turning point). Desire of Nations arrived near outside. CHORUS: And those Bethlehem nights, with no Holiday Inn. She, uh, gives a Child. We'd survive from our sin. Near the pigs, He's a sight. It was right, God's own will. He's Love, He's the Light Herod still couldn't kill. Shepherds were blest 'cause they tell that the angels told of Lord. He'd cleanse their sins and He would save their souls. He had been born in this place but would have to get away. Yet by His grace then, He'd make them all whole. He would make them all whole. Night after night, day after day, kings travelled on. They got a warning, "Leave Herod alone!" They'd spent those nights staring up at the light God made. Frankincense, myrrh and gold to God's own Son. Chorus 2x | ||||

| Note: Jeff James has written several Parodeities over the years. He has been gracious enough to rewrite many of the parodies appearing in the Parodeity section on Webster. He's done a great job improving some of these tunes in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. I'm absolutely thrilled that he has taken it upon himself to make these improvements; I had hoped when I put all my work in the public domain that it would encourage some people to make these types of modifications to the Parodeities to improve them. It is exciting to see someone doing this kind of work; I hope that Jeff's excellent work will encourage others to write new parodies or "ReVerse" existing parodeities. -- Randy Hyde BTW, if you don't understand the "Paro-Dud" moniker, visit ApologetiX' site and check out the name of Karl Messner's production company; then you'll probably get the play on words. | ||||
