Cain

Parody of "Jane" by Jefferson Starship

Parody Lyrics by Jeff James (the Paro-dud)
(Genesis chapter 4, apologies to Jefferson Starship ;-)

God: "Cain, do say, where's your brother?"
Cain: "Him do I keep?"
God: "There's a time for crops and a time for getting some meat, Cain! Ah!
Cain, you slayed him, you've blame.
Called out to get him in field. Shame!
Stayin' deceived that you just don't see their pain."

God: "Cain, evadin' the blame (he'll ever be hid, world).
You're fakin' 'bout A-bel so I'll curse you on the ground, Cain! Ah!
My! Attacked him by house (whacked him by house).
He's gored before he found a spouse.
Don't you pretend! Don't you know sin is stalkin' about?

Abel: "What of those times we spent as brethren? (hey, hey)
Boldly you thought, off'rings don't matter.
Oh Cain, evadin' the blame, evadin' the blame, -vadin' the bla-a-a-ame!

God: "Cain, you're playin' a game, but why, I don't see.
Cain, you're slayin' dad's son, and Abel now "sleeps", yes he do.
Oh Cain, there's a mark on thee.
Oh Cain, it's more pain for Me.
Try to fool God? Really, -ly? Leave!
Cain, Cain, Cain . . .

Note: Jeff James has written several Parodeities over the years. It is exciting to see someone doing this kind of work; I hope that Jeff's excellent work will encourage others to write new parodies or "ReVerse" existing parodeities. -- Randy Hyde

BTW, if you don't understand the "Paro-Dud" moniker, visit ApologetiX' site and check out the name of Karl Messner's production company; then you'll probably get the play on words.
